64th TdP from Warsaw to Karpacz (22.04.2007)
On Friday evening in Courtyard by Marriott Warsaw International Aiport Hotel route of the 64th Tour de Pologne was unveiled. In seven days riders will have to cover total distance of 1237,1 kilometers starting in Warsaw and finishing as ever since 1999 in Karkonosze mountain resort of Karpacz. Honorary patronage on the 64th of the race was taken by President of Poland Lech Kaczyński.
"I’m very satisfied with the route we managed to prepare for this year’s edition of the race – said TdP director Czesław Lang (Olympic Road Race silver medalist and winner of the TdP in 1980). This year we changed the date by one day to start the race on Sunday (not on Monday as it was in recent times). We hope that with this move plenty of cycling fans will have better opportunity to watch TdP start on the streets of Polish capital.
"In Warsaw on the day one of the race short team time trial will held over distance of just 3 kilometers around Theatre Square in the center of the city. It will be great opportunity to present all participants to the whole audience gathered there on Sunday afternoon.” – added Lang.
